First Flight JS Frenzy 90 Torque Tube

I was finally at the field today, there was snow but I can handle that and I was cold, that I could not handle, I was only there for 45 min.

I was able to get my new engine OS 91HZ-R started and my JS Frenzy 90 Torque Tube seems to be flying very well, I did do a short take off and there were no need for adjustment at all, very nice.

One of the reason why my stay only was 45 minutes. Was because my starter would not turn the engine! Yes my Dynatron starter had some problems starting the engine second time when I was cold, the Danish winter sucks. But there is a simple solution to that, run the starter on 24 volts, I just changed my setup and it works perfect, I am very happy with my Dynatron starter and the fact that it can run on 24 volts, a lot of power in that starter.

I will write a review when i have had some more flight time :)

PhoenixRC V3 Beta review

Just installed the new beta version of the PhoenixRC V3

Just installed the new beta version of the PhoenixRC V3, I must say it is great to have a product that has updates that often I have had Phoenix for about 2 years and ones again there is a free update in the works.

With some nice new features.

Now you can get a flybareless helicopter, you can see the flybars missing in the graphics that is nice. There are some new fields and aircrafts. Finally I am not sure about this but I think they have improved the water it is very cool in the new version, check out this video for some of the new features.

Crash in audience area, at 3D Masters 2010

At 3D masters this year a crash happened that could have had huge consequences, one of the pilots broke the tail in flight, while flying inverted, the mistake he made was trying to save the helicopter, the helicopter started to fly over the audience area and the pilot finally killed the engine. This proves that even professionals can make mistakes.

Note to self: Kill engine immediately after something is broken in flight.

See the video of the crash here:

Nitro vs Electric at 3D Masters 2010

At the 3D master i decided to try to count the number of nitro helicopters and the number of electric helicopters, and i did that more or less as promised, i installed an application on my android phone for editing excel document and i updated the document every hour or so and the result you can see here:

Nitro flights Electric flights
82 flights 17 flights

Nitro still is the dominating choice, but it is just a question of time i am sure, you can’t see any difference in flight style between the two. Only how long the flight lasts.

The results are not scientific. :)

Best victory flight 3DM 2010

Here is an example of a victory flight from a pilot i think we can expect more from in the future, this is in my opinion the best victory flight at the 3D masters 2010, first Curtis Youngblood came out his helicopter died after a few minutes attempting to fly around a tree and Nick Smackwell last 30 sec. then he crashed.

But Gael Laminard winner of the expert class, his victory flight was cool he did all the right things without a crash. Check it out

I am working on my videos, but until then check out my photo from 3D masters 2010
