Okay first flight

Made it to the flying field today, great. It was cold and windy but the Frenzy was airborne and got 3 flight don. After the first full tank i re-tighten the tail belt it was a little lose, perfectly normal after first flight with a new helicopter.
I did run into another problem with the heli, it was not related to the Frenzy but the engine.
When i was flying IDL2 and did some fast flying the engine started to get very hot and started to lean out, but it is properly because i had set my governor a little to high in IDL2.

I have been concidering for some time if i should get the Align Super Starter, as you can see but i have not been 100% sure that it was a good starter for a 91 engine in the cold winters here in Denmark.

I then decided to fix my old starter, the new Frenzy has a one-bearing in the starter shaft that was great new, because my old starter wand one-way was broke. I mounted a new starter wand and two lipos on the side resulting in great power for the starter engine.
In combination with my new glow plug starter i can walk to the flight line and start my engine and not in the pilot area with my starter box. See pictures with my new starter and my glow plug starter with a meter on.

Helibatic 2 is over

Well now Helibatic 2 2009 is over and I ended last position AGAIN, it is not a good year for me :) What can I say if you don’t practice you don’t win. That’s a lesson to you all.

I was struck by a little bad luck, when I was in my free style flight I was trying to make a rainbow up against wind, and the engine lost power. It was in the last part of my flight and I end with a nice autorotation right in the circle. There was a lot of comment asking me if I didn’t have a governor installed, but the answer is yes I have a governor installed, but there was a small problem with the governor, see picture.

governor sensor broken

The sensor was broken off !!

I have posted some pictures, most of them are from my friend Kurt, and he is still learning about his fancy camera that is why some of the pictures are dark :)

Ready for Christmas ?

No Gravatar

Yes. The shops have already started to sell Christmas stuff, with the financial crisis on the roll I guess they have to be well prepared.

Christmas puts you in your next crisis, “What can I put on my wish list for this Christmas”. You have a big list of parts you would like: Carbon main blades, Governor, flybarless system, crash kit and a yeas subscription for RC Heli magazine. However, the wife/girlfriend already told you that she can’t/won’t buy any helicopter stuff for you. Back to initial dilemma “What can I put on my wish list for this Christmas”!!!

I have one thing you can put on your wish list and this is a nice compromise for both of you. An RC Helicopter calendar, did you see that? This are some guys (World Scenic Flights) have been traveling all over the world to take pictures of their helicopter with some great background scenery, support them it’s a great Christmas gift you will remember for a year :)

A picture from the calender

If you cannot find anything for the wife check out my sisters shop (Danish only).

Have a nice Christmas :) a bit early.

The fieldbox is driving

Now the Fiat 127 is fixed. I got a new gear box and clutch in the car and the engine is running, well it’s running. I have to change the ignition system. And then I can drive it in rain too, not like now where I lose some of the cylinders when driving in rain.

As you can see on the pictures I was out flying yes today, I still have some issues with setting the mix on the engine after I have installed a governor. And when I was out flying last time I had some issues with getting the mix right, but I found that I had mixed up the high and the middle needle when I was trying to adjust the engine, that’s way I could not get the engine to run clean.

Yestoday I almost got the engine tuned right but not quit, when I was switching from idl1 to idl2 and gave it full throttle the engine died on me. About 7 meters over the ground right in the bad height for an autorotation. But finally all the years of practices paid off. I managed to auto it down with only a broken land skid not the best landing but hay it’s a cheap repair.

SiteNote : I have removed some of my Google adds well to be honest they don’t pay enough, compared to the space and load time they take on the page. For some of you that maybe interested in Adsence from Google here is some data from my site. I have average 120 unique visitors on my site a day, I have a CTR at about 5,5% and the pay is about 120$ every 4 month, not really something that can motivate me. But now you can chose if it’s something you want to use.

Check out the fieldbox, I can fit one more helicopter in the back, any sponsors for a exstra heli?

There is just room for the Freya helicopter
The Fieldbox batterie, and a generator for recharch too.
