The making of RealFlight 6

You have to see this video that shows the making of Great Planes® RealFlight® 6 R/C Flight Simulator, from the video i can see some of the big pilot has been helping in the creation, Tom-Erik, Matt Botos, Bobby Watts and Brian Bremer.

Apparently there is an updated transmitter with the smooth throttle stick and some other stuff, but don’t take my word for it, the video shows it all

The next step for RCHeli.dk is definitely the a smartphone optimized site, and i give you what you demand. Tryout the new design for mobile devices, this way you can check the site at the flying field on your smartphone, i personally use my smartphone for a lot of surfing and i just wish that more sites would be optimized for a smart phone, it loads the site very fast, here are some screen shots preview:

Pilot locator on smartphone

Just been up a little too late last night, working on a cool new thing for all us smartphone users in the RC hobby.

Pilot locator for a smartphone, you can find flying fields, RC buddies and Hobby shops from your smart device, and that is in the entire world, currently there is over 4000 registration on the pilot locator. This is the biggest collection of registered flying fields on one map in the world. (far as I know)

Back to the new feature, the only thing you have to do, is get your smart phone, start up Google maps application, hit search, write http://map.rcheli.dk in the search field and you are ready to go, you can navigate to field, pilot and shop read details about them and you can write to pilot, fields and shop registrations on the map, there is a email function optimized for the smart phones too.

To register on the map, go to http://map.rcheli.dk from your PC.

Check out the intro video below, very easy:

And some screenshots:
The first thing you have to do, search for push-pins like this.

You need Google maps installed on your device to get the pilot locator to work.
Testet on:

  • Android, HTC Desire(Rooted)
  • IPhone, see issue list for current issue on the Iphone.
  • Ipad
  • Nokia E71
  • Known issues:

  • Pushpin icons on Iphone is default Google maps icons, can’t see the difference from pilot, field and shop on Iphone.
  • “Share this place” function in Google maps not working with the locations from http://map.rcheli.dk
  • Please post if you have tested this on another device and if it works or not. Thanks. Any input would be great.

    Poland on the pilot locator

Now Poland really is represented on the pilot locator, and for that i have made a direct link for Poland, check it out http://map.rcheli.dk/?contry=pl, Maybe the next step is to replace the Russian flag, in the right menu, with the flag from Poland, because of the increasing registrations in Poland, thanks for the support, guys from Poland.

As i understand it from a Polish forum, the guys from Poland are trying to defeat us in Scandinavia with the amount of registrations, hey Poland you have about 200 registrations to go :) keep up the good work.

    New pilot locator feature

Now you can embed the pilot locator on your site, here are the 4 easy steps.

    1. Register your club/flying field or yourself on the map, if you’re not already on http://map.rcheli.dk

    2. Find you personal PinId, you can find it on the last tab, the service tab when you click on your registration on the map, it is the number at the bottom of the service tab.

    3. Correct the MyPinId=??? Number in code below, to your personal PinID.

    4. And past the code into you site or your RC club site , where every you want.

Then you have a nice embedded pilot locator like the one on this nice site http://3dheli.dk/hoffmann/Hjem-1307.asp

The xsize and the ysize parameter in the link is for setting the size of the map on your site, in pixels.
The width: 500px; height: 300px; are the size of the iframe, the map is inside an Iframe.

If you have any questions please ask http://map.rcheli.dk/?mypinid=35 :)

To prove how simple it is, here is an example on how I can look.

Hope you like it. Show your support by becoming a fan on Facebook
